Orders Cdr 2nd Btn RCT-1 to defend AL-MADSCHID Airbase

1.Situation[INDENT]a)Enemy:
The enemy could be defeated at the AL-MADSCHID Airbase. However, reports seem to be true that units of the 2nd Republican Guards Tank Division operate in this area now. According to recon at least one mixed armoured regiment has arrived near NAJAF. It´s possible that these units could execute a counterattack to the airfield or the reduced 1st Btn at SAMAWAH. Enemy´s intention is likely winning back the airbase and Highway 10, respectively occupying the area N - NW of EUPHRATES River. Increased hostile recon activity around SAWA LAKE could lead to the presumption that the last option is more probable.
b)Own:
The attack to the airbase by 2d Btn was very successfull and the airborne operation was executed by DAGGER. After resupplying 2d Btn will change over to time limited defense and will prepare for further assault in western direction. 1st Btn is actually holding positions at SAMAWAH and south of EUPHRATES river and already had contact to hostile recon units at SAWA LAKE, E Coy "DAGGER" is
located north of 2d Btn in defensive positions. 3d Btn is south of 2d Btn as regimental reserve and will take 2d Btn´s positions after a possible attack in western direction.
Own artillery and support units are actually 15 clicks away on the march in northern direction.[/INDENT]

1.Situation[INDENT]a)Enemy:
The enemy around SAMAWAH was eliminated. However it could be possible that Feyadeen members
escaped to RUMAYTHAH and regroup there. You may rest assured that major enemy forces are
located not until the area of AL-MADSCHID Airbase. Apart from that, within our area of operations
only dispersed units lacking command and combat capability are moving around. But the airbase
could be heavily fortified and its defense positions could be well prepared - it´s named after
Saddam´s cousin. It´s sure you´ll face regular Iraqi Army units there, but there´s also the possibility to
face transfered units of 2nd "Al Medina" Armoured Division of Saddam´s Republican Guard Corps.
It´s actually moving from KARBALA - NAJAF in southern direction and is better equipped, trained and
more fanatical than regular army units.

b)Own:
SAMAWAH was taken and major units of the 6th (mot.) Infantry Brigade could be destroyed. RCT-1 is
now proceeding and developing along Highway 10 and the EUPHRATES river to its next objective
AL-MADSCHID Airbase. Lacking major losses or casualties, this evening 2d Btn is up to perform its
tasks according to the given plan as leading element. 1st Btn is holding positions, securing left flank.

1.situation[INDENT]a)enemy:
According to heavy losses, enemy hastily withdrawed with remaining parts of 2nd (mot.) Infantry Brigade and some Fedayeen and most likely prepared a new defense line in the area
of SAMAWAH. To the west of the city is an Iraqi Army´s camp which normally accomodated a mech. btn and a AAA/SAM-battery. It´s actually unknown if these units are located in this area, respectively if they participate in defensive operations.
Enemy has a small amount of light artillery but already lost any capability for own air-operations.
b)own:
In the meantime RCT-1 has arrived positions app. 20 clicks north of NASIRIYAH and prepares to attack in northern direction along the river EUPHRATES without any neighbour.
The objective is to take the city of SAMAWAH and the army camp Saeed al-Sahhaf. For the execution, btn was reinforced with armoured support.

ist immer schwer zu sagen wenn man nur die Jahreszahlen sieht.
Ansonsten war er aber Zugführer, Batteriechef und hat seine Zeit im Auslandseinsatz absolviert.
Alles in allem ein normaler Werdegang und bei den Verwendungen nach seiner Zeit als Batteriechef sieht man halt warum er i.G. ist.

Ich wünsche ihm viel Glück. Ich habe selbst 1,5 Jahre in der 37er gedient, allerdings unter einem anderen Typ Brigadekommandeur.

so Mission 6 und die Kampagne ist vorbei.
Keine Ahnung wer gewonnen hat, wir haben jedenfalls heute nochmal richtig gut ausgeteilt.

Fazit:
Die ersten 3 missions waren am schwersten, da ohne Kartenaktualisierung. Die 3te mission war außerdem noch ein Nachtgefecht.

Eine Menge Mikromanagement bei der Größe und der Teilnehmerzahl trübt natürlich manchmal den Spaßfaktor.
Man erlebte in diesen Gefechten alle Höhen und Tiefen mit.

Mache ich bei der nächsten OPV mit, keine Frage jederzeit wieder.

Mein Highlight des Morgens war der Abschuß vom Roten CO (Leo2E) mit meinem T-72M1.

"I just finished the first draft for the release notes (took me three days to compile everything since version 2.654). Managed to compress the page count from 52 to 49 thanks to Helvetica Condensed type at nine point size (just for the bug list... otherwise it's all at 9.5 point, I'm not that cruel).

Our ability to include wishes listed in this thread is minimal at this point as the code freeze is rapidly approaching, after which it's mostly a matter of testing and fixing bugs, or fleshing out things with more content (=no development risk). That said, you will find many elements from this thread in the new version. Not everything, but a lot.

I hope that by eliminating redundancies in the text I may keep the total size of the release notes at under 75 pages ... we'll see how that goes. What's clear already is that it is undeniably the biggest upgrade in Steel Beasts history, with a number of rather fundamental changes.

This just as some little info about what we're doing at the moment. Volcano has done an incredible job with new sounds and the daily grind of integrating new 3D artwork and the associated quality control. The artists have left almost no 3D element without a brush-up. There have never been as many new vehicles, never been as many new playable vehicles than in this upgrade. Dozens of contributors submitted new scenarios, map files, localization packages, tutorial PDF documents, tutorial scenarios, and more."
